It is the mission of the Youth Institute of San Antonio to provide outreach alternatives to youth, their families and communities through a series of social redevelopment, prevention, and intervention programs, services and opportunities in order to affect youth problems in the Bexar County region.

It is the mission of the Youth Institute of San Antonio to provide outreach alternatives to youth, their families and communities through a series of social redevelopment, prevention, and intervention programs services, and opportunities in order to affect youth problems in the Bexar County region.

WHAT WE DO

The purpose of YIOSA is to assist in preparing parents, schools, and communities for dealing with problems now plaguing our youth. The three primary strategies employed to achieve its' purpose are:

EARLY PREVENTION

The early prevention strategies primarily address drug, alcohol, bullying and gang associated problems for children. It provides positive alternatives for youth who might otherwise become involved in these activities.

INTERVENTION

YIOSA’s intervention strategies are designed to provide a way out and/or to stay out of negative activities. The level at which the youth involved is assessed and the strategies are designed, implemented and coordinated to change the negative behavior.

SOCIAL REDEVELOPMENT

YIOSA’s social redevelopment strategies seek to coordinate the efforts of the many institutions involved ( i.e., home, school, church, community, law enforcement) to develop an atmosphere in which negative activities become positive activities.
